JHS Top 10 Seniors of the Class of 2021
 Sarah Pratt, the daughter of Steven and Sue Pratt, is the Johnstown High School Class of 2021 Valedictorian. She is the president of the Student Council, and vice president of the William A. Wright Chapter of the National Honor Society, Key Club, and the Baronet Yearbook Club. Sarah participated in varsity field hockey, basketball and softball all four years of high school and was selected co-captain of the field hockey team her senior year. In 2019, she received the field hockey NYSPHSAA Sportsmanship award, the Section 2 First-Team All-Star Award and was a NFHCA High School Scholar of Distinction. For basketball , she also received the Scholar Athlete Award in the 2019-2020 season. Sarah will attend the University of New Haven in the fall to major in Forensic Science and to play Division 2 Field Hockey. |
 Grace Giarrizzo, daughter of Christa and Salvatore Giarrizzo, is the Johnstown High School Class of 2021 Salutatorian. She will attend Northeastern University in the fall to study Biological Sciences. Grace was involved in multiple varsity sports. She was awarded the Coaches Award twice for softball, Most Improved Award for girls soccer and Most Dedicated Award for nordic ski. She was captain of her soccer and softball teams her senior year. She has been a member of Student Council and International Club, and was a selected senior for the Student Advisory Committee. She is the National Honor Society Treasurer, and was selected to represent JHS as an ambassador at the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Seminar. She has received the Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and English Language and Composition awards. She enjoys playing the flute in Wind Ensemble, and is an active participant in her class activities. Outside of school she volunteers at her local church and plays softball year round with a travel team, which placed in the top 10 at the USSSA 2018 Nationals. She also helped her coach run a softball clinic for Johnstown youth. She would like to thank her friends, family, teachers, and coaches for pushing her to work hard and for all of their continued support. |
 Kanako Sasaki is the daughter of Tadahiro Sasaki and Miho Sasaki. She will attend Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan, to study Global Political Science and Economics. Kanako is the vice president of Student Council, and secretary for Key Club, a member of the International Club, Baronet Yearbook Club, and WAW National Honor Society. She played on the varsity field hockey and girls basketball teams. She earned the Most Improved Player Award for Field Hockey, and was named the NFHCA Scholar of Distinction and Foothill Council Second Team All-Star twice. Kanako received the Coach’s Award for basketball twice. She received the AP US History Award and the Clarkson University Award. Her volunteer activities include highway cleanups, Soles4Souls, NOAH, referee youth field hockey and basketball as well as coaching youth basketball. She also participated in the We the People Competition to represent the JHS APPLE Class for Unit 2 and came in on top with her team for the unit. |
 Colleen Long is the daughter of Dr. Michael and Stephanie Long. She will attend Hartwick College to study music production. Colleen has been involved in several music programs, including Jazz Band, Music for the Mind and most recently, the virtual FCMEA 2021 All-County Festival. During her junior and senior years, Colleen has taken several AP and UHS classes through SUNY Albany, as well as heavily participating in MasterMinds and the JHS Drama Club. Colleen belongs to the Holy Trinity Parish and has participated as a lector, altar server and a performer in the Living Stations of the Cross at Easter for years. She has volunteered at NOAH, and with the Fulton County Highway Clean-Up Projects. |
 Cameron Polidore is the son of Becky Boggie and Joe Polidore. He will attend SUNY Oswego in the fall. Cameron has been involved in many extracurricular activities including Jazz Band, Marching Band, and JHS Drama Club. He stepped in to play percussion with the Insolent Willies for the Save Our Sports Fundraiser. He has performed in several productions both on the stage and in the pit band for the Colonial Little Theater and Foothills Family Productions. He has also helped with the school district’s Backpack program. |
 Haylee Webb is the daughter of Amy O’Regan Webb and Adam Webb. She will attend RIT to study Chemical Engineering in the Accelerated Dual Degree Program. Haylee has been a member of the varsity softball team. She has also danced at the Creative Dance Studio for the past fourteen years. She has participated in Student Council and International Club throughout her high school career, as well as being an active member in the Class of 2021 activities and events. Haylee is the secretary of the William A. Wright National Honor Society and was the recipient of the Principal’s Award. |
 Aiden Greene is the son of Joe and Tracey Greene. He will attend Northeastern University to study Cellular and Molecular Biology. Aiden has been a member of the varsity golf team where he earned the Most Dedicated Award and was appointed Team Captain his senior year. He participated in MasterMinds, the International Club, and was made part of the Student Advisory Committee as a senior. He spent a lot of time volunteering at “R” Quarter Horses and helped the Johnstown Senior Citizen Center with community events. He would like to thank his friends, family, teachers and coaches for their support. |
 Jacob Martelle is the son of Jennifer Martelle-Mahon and William Martelle. He will attend SUNY New Paltz in the fall. Jacob has been involved in Student Council and Key Club, where he became the president of both clubs his senior year. He also participated in the Alpine Ski team, Baronet Year Book Club, and created his own club, the National History Day Club. He was inducted into the William A. Wright National Honor Society and became president. Jacob was awarded the Student of the Quarter from the Spanish Department. While attending school and working at TJ Maxx as a customer service coordinator, he donated blood and also volunteered his time for community service projects, such as highway cleanups, and NOAH at the local church. |
 Anna Marie Lee, the daughter of Rich and Stacey Lee, will be attending SUNY Brockport in the fall as a Nursing major. She is a student in the New Visions program at Nathan Littauer Hospital through HFM Boces. Anna is a two-sport athlete of field hockey and basketball, who has made a historic impact on the Lady Bills program. Anna has surpassed the 1,000 point scoring mark and is now the Lady Bills’ all-time leading scorer. She is also an active member of her school and community. Within the high school, she is the treasurer of the 2021 class, president of the yearbook club, student council event coordinator, and has been inducted into the National Honor Society. Outside of school she volunteers through the Holy Trinity Catholic Church and is the first-grade faith formation church school teacher. She has also been very dedicated to her academics and has maintained a ninety-plus average all four years of high school. |
 Nicholas Hadcock is the son of Adam and Taryn Hadcock. He will attend Fulton-Montgomery Community College and will transfer after two years to study architecture. Nicholas has been involved in Track and Field, and was also a member of the Cross-Country Ski Team where he received the Most Dedicated Award. He was also vice president of the Class of 2021 during his junior and senior years. |
