Everyone on the team is encouraged to take advantage of professional development opportunities and there are opportunities to grow within the district. Interested in working with students outside of the classroom? There are plenty of opportunities to advise extracurriculars and coach our athletes.

Here’s what some of our teaching staff has to say about working at GJSD:

“Johnstown has forward thinking administrators who support teacher lessons regarding out of the box activities that fit our standards.”  – Secondary teacher (almost 15 years at GJSD)

“The energy and support you receive at Johnstown makes you feel safe, respected, healthy, and welcomed into an intellectually stimulating learning environment. I’m forever grateful for my decision to join the team at Greater Johnstown School District.” – Elementary teacher (less than 5 years at GJSD)

“Since being at Johnstown I have found there is massive support amongst peers and administration. There is a culture of seeing people as humans, not as their job; there is recognition that your life outside of your work and that life brings increased value to your work. Good people make a good school, and we have good people.” – Special Education teacher (veteran teacher)

“Johnstown was the one place that I applied to that followed through with everything they said. I have referred 3 teachers and one teaching assistant to the district because of this. I am very thankful to work for this district and Johnstown is a place of employment where their word is their bond.” – NEW GJSD teacher
