Pleasant Avenue Named a “Kindness Certified School!”

A blue certificate awarded to Pleasant Avenue Elementary designating them as a "Kindness Certified School"

Congratulations to the students, teachers and staff at Pleasant Avenue Elementary School on officially being designated a “Kindness Certified School!” Pleasant Avenue received the honor for their participation in the “Great Kindness Challenge” last month and in recognition of their ongoing commitment to creating a culture of kindness on their campus.

As part of the “Great Kindness Challenge,” students performed hundreds of acts of kindness in school and continued the initiative with their families at home and throughout the community. Students sent letters and thank you cards to Nathan Littauer Hospital, St. Mary’s Hospital and the Fulton County Office for the Aging and wrote notes to staff members throughout the Johnstown district.

“The Kindness Challenge led to a really uplifting week of positivity here at Pleasant Avenue,” principal Cory Cotter said. “I’m very proud of my school community for putting all they had into this challenge. Moving forward, I know we will work together to consciously incorporate kindness, whenever possible.”
