Johnstown names top ten from Class of 2022 top ten

Roslyn Chapin and Kalena Eaton take top honors

Roslyn Chapin, Valedictorian for Johnstown’s Class of 2022.

Roslyn Chapin, daughter of Amanda Boyer and Dan Chapin, is the Johnstown Senior High School Class of 2022 Valedictorian. She is president of the International Club, co-president of Student Council, secretary of Key Club and a member of the William A. Wright Chapter of the National Honor Society. Roslyn participated in varsity soccer and lacrosse all four years of high school and was captain for both teams during her senior year. Outside of school she volunteers for “Project Clean Streets” and at local animal shelters. Roslyn will attend Binghamton University in the fall to major in Chemistry.

Kalena Eaton, Salutatorian for Johnstown’s Class of 2022.

Kalena Eaton, the daughter of Jeffrey and Jessica Eaton, is the Johnstown Senior High School Class of 2022 Salutatorian. She is president of Student Council and the Baronet Yearbook Club; Vice president of the Class of 2022, the William A. Wright Chapter of the National Honor Society, and the Key Club. She is also the secretary of International Club, a member of the Student Advisory Committee and the Backpack Program. Kalena was a member of the varsity field hockey team throughout high school and was named team captain her senior year. She earned recognition as a 1st Team Foothills Council All-Star and was named to New York’s All-State Team for Field Hockey. She was also a member and team captain of the varsity track and field team. In addition to this, Kalena volunteers as a third grade church school teacher every Sunday. She has received numerous awards including the Student of the Month, English and Spanish Awards, the Comprehensive Spanish Award, the Spanish IV Award, the Dr. Kevin Keating Memorial Award, and the Soroptimist Youth Citizenship Award. Kalena will attend SUNY Brockport in the fall to major in Psychology.

Ethan has been involved in many clubs and activities throughout his high school career. He is co-president of the William A. Wright Chapter of the National Honor Society, treasurer of the Class of 2022, co-vice president of Student Council, and a member of the International Club. As a junior, he received the NYS Attorney General’s Triple “C” Award, the Bausch and Lomb Honorary Science Award from the University of Rochester, the AP Biology Award, and the U. S. History Award. He was a member of the varsity football team, serving as captain his senior year and earning recognition as a 2nd Team All-League Linebacker. Ethan has also played varsity lacrosse for all four years, serving as captain his junior and senior years and earning recognition as an Honorable Mention All-League Defenseman his freshman year and First Team his junior year. He was selected twice to the Adirondack team, competing in the statewide lacrosse tournament. Ethan has also been actively involved in the community as a volunteer in the Backpack Program, at the local food pantry and in the Johnstown Youth Lacrosse Program.


a boy wearing a sweater stands around red treesJared Stewart is the son of Scott and Renee Stewart.  He will attend Nazareth College to study Physical Therapy. Jared was a three-season athlete at Johnstown, participating in football, basketball and baseball throughout his high school career. He was recognized as captain of both the football and baseball teams his senior year. Jared was also named a Scholar-Athlete for all three sports throughout his high school career. He has been a class officer throughout high school and is also a member of the William A. Wright Chapter of the National Honor Society. Jared was also a member of Student Council, International Club and Baronet Yearbook Club. He has been accepted into the entry level Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at Nazareth College in Rochester, NY.


a boy wearing a bowtie and black jacket smiles at the cameraKonner Mancini is the son of Frank and Linette Mancini. He will attend SUNY Cobleskill to study Agricultural Equipment Technology (BT). Konner has been involved in the Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership Conference (HOBY) and received a Certificate of Recognition for his participation. He is also a member of National Honor Society, and is active with several extracurricular clubs, including Marching Band, Jazz Band, Pep Band, International Club and the Class of 2022. Konner has received the George Eastman Young Leaders Award, English Award and Health Award. Outside of school Konner is a member of the Boy Scouts of America and Order of the Arrow (BSA National Honor Society), where he earned his Rank of Eagle along with the completion of 225 community service hours. He is also a member of Phi Theta Kappa at SUNY Fulton-Montgomery Community College and participates in various activities with the Hisert family park where he volunteered 121 hours.

He will attend the University of Utah to study Parks, Recreation and Tourism in the fall. Throughout his high school career, Benjamin has been a three-sport athlete, participating in football, alpine skiing and baseball.  While on the alpine ski team, he served as captain for three years and was twice awarded both the Most Dedicated and Most Outstanding skier award. He also served as captain of the baseball team his senior year. He was inducted into the William A. Wright Chapter of the National Honor Society and has been an active member in his class activities, serving as the Class of 2022 President for a time.  Benjamin also volunteered his time for causes such as the Greater Johnstown School District’s Backpack Program, Fulton County Regional SPCA’s no-sew blanket drive, and JEPTA’s Color Run and Holiday Night. Benjamin would like to thank his parents for their constant love and support.

She will be attending Franklin and Marshall College in the fall and is still undecided in her major. She is first chair bassoon in the Saratoga Youth Symphony and an active member at the Creative Dance Studio. Cecelia also participates in Jazz Band, Marching Band, Drama Club, Masterminds, Hiking Club and the William A. Wright Chapter of the National Honor Society. She has also been involved in several community bands, and started volunteering at the public library, which became her part-time job.  Most recently, Cecelia won an award for her artwork through the Paul Nigra Center.

He will attend Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) to study Photography. Luke has been involved in JJSHS Drama Club, International Club, Jazz Band, Pep Band, and Marching Band, as well as MasterMinds. Luke was inducted in the William A. Wright Chapter of the National Honor Society his junior year and was voted in as co-president his senior year. He is a regular contributor to the Backpack Program, where he volunteers weekly as a driver. Luke also participated in the Johnstown Senior High School Musical, where he landed a starring role as Horton the Elephant in Seussical the Musical his senior year. Luke would like to thank his mom and dad for their continued support.

She will attend the University of New Hampshire in the fall to study Business. Throughout her high school career, Bentley has been involved with the girls’ soccer and softball teams, earning a four-year spot on the varsity soccer team starting in ninth grade. Through the University in the High School program at Johnstown, Bentley completed many college and AP courses, while also earning a spot on high honor roll throughout her high school career.

She will be attending SUNY Plattsburgh to study Early Childhood and Special Education. Jaden has involved herself within her school community by being part of William A. Wright National Honor Society, Class of 2022, International Club, Baronet Yearbook Club, Student Council, and Key Club. She has been a member of the Lady Bills Varsity Basketball Team since her eighth grade year and was a captain her senior year. Jaden was named a Scholar-Athlete all four years, and earned several basketball awards, including “Most Dedicated,” “Basketball Most Improved,” and  “Most Outstanding in the Classroom, Community and Basketball.” She was also named a 1st Team Foothills All-Star and 3rd Team All-Star for the “Times Union.” Jaden scored over 1,000 points and made over 900 rebounds in her five-year varsity career. She became Johnstown’s Women’s Basketball all-time leader in both categories.  Jaden also achieved a place on the high honor roll each semester of high school and was awarded with the Student of the Month in Social Studies and Music.
