Winter Guard Takes Top Place
Johnstown’s junior varsity Amethyst winter guard team took first place in the Cadet Class with its February 8 performance at Laurens, NY, earning a score of 48.76. The Amethyst Gold varsity team’s performance garnered second place in the Scholastic A Class with a score of 66.18.
Winter guard is the competitive sport of indoor color guard. Modern color guard is a combination of the use of flags, sabers, mock rifles, and other equipment, as well as dance and other interpretive movement set to music.
