Policy 4270 – Technology Use

The Board of Education desires to provide an appropriate level of technology in support of the attainment of the District mission statement.  This commitment includes technological support for both student and staff achievements.  This support may take many forms, but will specifically include training, software, equipment, service and repair of equipment, supplies and provisions for utilities and staffing.  The Board of Education recognizes the need to provide for the safe keeping of the assets addressed under this policy.  Therefore, the Board of Education requires the prudent use of all appropriate technologies to enhance the opportunities for the achievement of both student and staff goals within the framework outlined under the auspices of this policy, guidelines and required District procedures.

The use of technology, including but not limited to computers, software and related paraphernalia is a privilege, not a right.  Strict adherence to this Board of Education policy, related policies, applicable laws, regulations, guidelines, procedures standards of professionalism and civility is required.  Violation of the aforementioned will result in disciplinary action and/or the revocation of the granted use of technologies offered by the District.

The Superintendent and/or designee will develop Administrative Guidelines which will be adopted by the Board of Education as a part of the Board of Education’s policy on technology use.  The Superintendent and/or designee will promulgate procedures for the use and protection of the District’s technological assets.

The Superintendent and/or designee will provide the Board of Education with a Long Range Plan on Technology, annually, in conjunction with the budget plan.

The District will, without notice, modify this policy, associated guidelines and procedures if it is deemed to be in the best interest of the School District.
