JHS Student Information Letter

Dear Johnstown High School Families:

Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year. I hope that you were able to find some relaxing time this summer! Administration, teachers, and staff have worked very hard to prepare for the upcoming school year. We are so thrilled for our students to return to school on Thursday, September 4, 2025.

The school day begins at 7:45AM and doors will open for all students at 7:35AM. Student entrances will be:

  • All walkers, bikers and students dropped off will enter through the main lobby doors in the front circle off of Pearl St. or students can be dropped off and enter through the back door at the old bus circle.
  • Student parking will be the parking lot to the left of Wright Drive.
  • JPAC front doors will ONLY be for students arriving by bus and for those who are eating breakfast. Breakfast begins at 7:15AM

The last assigned class of the day ends at 2:13 PM. Students should leave school premises at their dismissal time unless they are required to stay after school for academic support or after school activities. There will be a 9th period from 2:15-2:45 for academic support. Teachers can use this time to require students to stay for needed help. For bus students, there will be a late bus if they are using this time for academic purposes.

Schedules for students will be available on the SchoolTool portal by August 29th. Any concerns with schedules should be addressed through email to a school counselor (listed on student schedules). If you are unable to access the schedule, please contact the main office at 518-762-4661. Schedules will also be available in homeroom on the first day of classes.

Students are required to use their lockers and school issued locks. Backpacks and cell phones must remain in student lockers.

All students are provided with a chromebook. For those students who turned them in for the summer, they will be distributed on the first day of school during homeroom. Those students who did not turn in their device at the end of the school year will not be issued a new one and should report on the first day of school with their school issued chromebook.

Understanding school expectations and policies are important for a successful experience at JHS. Important information such as our attendance policy, student handbook and academic eligibility can be found on www.johnstownschools.org. Other critical information can be found there as well, such as, the Dignity for All Students Act, the Codes of Conduct and Title IX. Please visit the district website regularly for important updates.

We are very excited to get the school year started. If you have any concerns, feel free to contact me or the faculty at any time.

Sincerely,

Nicholas Snow
