The Greater Johnstown School District will host a swim program this summer giving community members of all ages the opportunity to use the indoor pool at the Johnstown High School (1 Sir Bills Circle, Johnstown, NY 12095) under the supervision of certified lifeguards.
Beginning Monday, July 6, the pool will be open to the public from 9:00-11:00 a.m., Mondays through Thursdays. The program runs through Thursday, August 13.
No pre-registration is required and there is no fee to participate. Participants should park near the tennis courts and use the rear entrance by the bus circle.
Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult who is 18 or older. Toddlers must wear protective swimming diapers in the pool. Participants are allowed to bring personal swimming aides (devices intended to help you stay afloat and swim). Pool floats and inflatable toys, however, are prohibited.
“The District’s free community swim program has been very popular over the last few years,” Superintendent of Schools Ms. Alicia D. Koster said. “We’re pleased to continue providing this opportunity as a way to serve our community and make our school facilities available to families and community members while students are on summer break.”
“Learning to swim is an important life skill, especially in our region, where we’re fortunate to be surrounded by beautiful lakes and waterways. We hope this program helps people of all ages build confidence in the water, stay active this summer, and enjoy a safe, welcoming place to swim,” she added.
