The District’s Shared Decision Making (SDM) Team held its first meeting of the new school year on October 28.
You can visit the SDM page of the District’s website to stay up to date on when meetings will take place, view agendas posted prior to the meetings, and view minutes posted after each meeting.
The next SDM Committee meeting will take place at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2026 in the District Office conference room at the High School.
SDM Committee and SDM Ad Hoc Committee meetings are open for the public to attend and observe the process, but only sitting members of each committee are able to participate in the meetings. Unlike a regular BOE meeting, there is no portion of the meeting to allow for public comment. However, we encourage members of our school community to attend the meetings, actively listen to the discussion to stay informed on decisions being made in the District.
Facilitated by Superintendent of Schools, Ms. Alicia D. Koster, the SDM committee recommended the formation of three ad hoc committees at its meeting on October 28. Ad hoc committees will include representatives from various stakeholder groups to provide input on in-depth research and formulate recommendations for the SDM Committee to consider:
(1) Portrait of a Graduate Ad Hoc Committee – This committee is focused on defining the knowledge, skills, and attributes all students should develop by graduation, in alignment with NYSED’s Portrait of a Graduate initiative, to ensure a shared vision that guides curriculum, instruction, and student experiences across the District.
- Facilitators – Nick Snow (JHS Principal) & Scott Hale (Assistant Superintendent)
- Meeting Monday, November 17, 2025 – JHS Library at 3:00 p.m.
(2) District Facilities Use Ad Hoc Committee – This committee is responsible for analyzing current policies, rules, and regulations governing the use of District facilities by both internal and external stakeholders and expectations of spectators at District events. The goal is to ensure that all regulations are up to date, properly implemented and communicated, and appropriate signage is clearly displayed.
- Facilitator – Bob Kraemer, Director of Student Engagement and Athletics
- Meeting Thursday, November 20, 2025 – JHS Media Center at 3:00 p.m.
(3) Family Engagement Ad Hoc Committee – This committee is dedicated to strengthening partnerships among families, schools, and the community to enhance student achievement and overall well-being.
- Facilitator – Cory Cotter, Pleasant Avenue Elementary Principal
- Meeting Tuesday, December 2, 2025 – Pleasant Ave. Media Center at 3:00 p.m.
