JHS students from Kristy Lynch’s Community Connections class and Christine Krempa’s Personal Finance class recently visited a variety of local businesses in Fulton County.

Their first stop was the Fulton Montgomery Regional Chamber of Commerce, where students learned about the chamber’s purpose and the value it provides to locally owned businesses. Next, students took a walking tour of several downtown Gloversville establishments, including:

➡ Ricmar Design & Print Shop

➡ 44 Lakes Customized Gifts and Decor

➡ Sage & Cedar Cafe

➡ The Fly Shack, Inc.

At each location, students heard directly from business owners about their operations, the community connections they rely on, the challenges they face, the financing needed to open their businesses, and the marketing strategies they use to attract new customers. These visits offered students valuable, hands-on experience and a real-world perspective on how local entrepreneurs bring their ideas to life and sustain their businesses within the community.

The afternoon concluded with a locally sourced lunch at the Mohawk Harvest Cooperative Market, generously funded by the district’s Farm to School AgriQuest grant.
