On May 19, 2026, voters in the Greater Johnstown School District will elect two board of education members to serve three year terms, from July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2029. District residents interested in being named as a candidate on GJSD’s May 19 election ballot must file a nominating petition in the District Clerk’s Office no later than 5:00 p.m. on April 29, 2026. Nominating petitions must be signed by at least 100 qualified voters.
Beginning on March 2, 2026, prospective candidates may request a nominating petition by calling the District Clerk at 518-762-4611 ext. 3119, or via email to lcarpenter@johnstownschools.org.
In order to serve, Board of education members must be U.S. citizens, at least 18 years old, qualified voters in the school district, able to read and write, and a resident of the school district continuously for one year before the election.
