JHS Top 10 Seniors Class of 2015

Briana Noel Esposito, the daughter of Liza M. Uhlinger and Robert J. Esposito, is the Johnstown High School Class of 2015 Valedictorian.  EspositoShe was the captain of the varsity soccer and softball teams and a Foothills Council All-Star.  Briana is a member of the National Honor Society and is very involved in the school’s music program.  She even started her own ensemble, the Johnstown High School Philharmonic Winds.  She is a regular volunteer in school activities, helping to organize this year’s Music for the Mind benefit and playing in the pit band for several school musicals.  Briana will attend Syracuse University in the fall to major in computer engineering.

ChamberlainHannah Grace Chamberlain, the daughter of Scott and Jannette Chamberlain, is the Johnstown High School Class of 2015 Salutatorian. Hannah is the Treasurer of the William A. Wright Chapter of the National Honor Society and an active participant in Key Club and Masterminds. Musically, Hannah plays baritone saxophone in the Philharmonic Winds, Wind Ensemble, and Jazz Band, earning All-county honors in 2015. Hannah played field hockey for four years, and was named a Foothills Council Second Team All Star in her senior year. She skied on the Nordic team for three years, and was selected as the most outstanding skier this year. Hannah played on the lacrosse team for two years, and competed in track for two years. She has served in many capacities at the Johnstown Church of Christ, including nursing home visitation, puppet ministry, and summer camp counseling. Hannah will attend Freed-Hardeman University in the fall to major in environmental biology.


BredaHannah Breda is the daughter of Paul Breda and Christene Rafferty. She will attend Syracuse University to study public communications.  Hannah has been involved in multiple clubs and activities throughout high school.  She is the vice president of the William A. Wright Chapter of the National Honor Society, and an active member of the JHS Class of 2015.  She has played varsity volleyball for three years and was named team captain this year.  Hannah was also named as a Foothills Council First Team All-Star this year and a Second Team All-Star her junior year.  She is a scholar athlete and is also a mentor at a youth volleyball camp.


HansenRachel Hansen is the daughter of Rick and Melissa Hansen.  She will attend Clarkson University to study electrical engineering.  She has been a very active member in many clubs and activities during her high school career.  She is secretary of the William A. Wright Chapter of the National Honor Society, treasurer of the Baronet, and a member of the National Society of High School Scholars.  Rachel has been in band for four years and was the creator/organizer of Music for the Mind.  She has won the geometry and pre-calculus awards.  In her free time, Rachel volunteers at the Shrine of Our Lady of Martyrs.


MannoJessica Manno is the daughter of Michael May and Michele Manno.  She will attend the Fashion Institute of Technology to study fashion merchandising and management.  Jessica has been involved in many clubs and activities. She is a member of the Student Council, National Honor Society, International Club and Key Club.  Jessica is an active member of the Class of 2015 where she was elected president for the past three years.  She was also named captain of her varsity field hockey team this year.


RyanAbigail Ann Ryan is the daughter of Lisa Johnson and Kevin Ryan.  She will attend University of New Haven in the fall to pursue a double major in crime analysis and forensic psychology, and a minor in Arabic.  Abigail, an active member of her high school, has been involved in Key Club, National Honor Society, Masterminds, the Bugle and Student Council.  She is also a two sport athlete, participating in varsity volleyball and varsity track and field.  She has been a Foothills, Sectional, Regional Champion, and advanced to state finals with the volleyball team last year.  Music is also an important part of Abigail’s life; she participates in both acapella and chamber choir, the school’s advanced chorus.  She also participated in the school musical and play this year.

LawyerTyler Jon Lawyer, the son of Karen L. Lawyer and William M. Frederick will be attending FMCC this fall to study nursing and will eventually major in anesthesia.  Throughout his high school career Tyler has participated in a plethora of school activities including stage crew for school plays, editor for the yearbook, marching band, National Honor Society, New Visions Health Program and much more.  He’s offered a massive amount of community service through the Salvation Army, Johnstown’s public library, and for his own school.  He has also spent his last three summers working with the public at Handy Ups N’ Downs and Nathan Littauer’s Nursing Home.  Tyler has remained on the high honor roll every quarter since seveth grade. Through his extraordinary and constant efforts, he has also been nominated for the National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists Award of Excellence held in Washington DC.

AmbrosinoDavid Geoge Ambrosino III is the son of David Ambrosino Jr. and Amy Ambrosino.  He will attend SUNY Polytechnic Institute to study mechanical engineering.  David’s hard work and diligence earned him the honor of being a participant in the 2014 Boys’ State Conference.  He has been on the high honor roll every year and enjoys playing the guitar to relax.  David is also a part-time employee at Price Chopper.



MowreyAnthony Mowrey III is the son of Rene’ and Anthony Mowrey, Jr. He will attend Morrisville State College to study natural resource conservation.  Upon completing his college studies, he would like to pursue a career in law enforcement.  Anthony is graduating with an Advance Regents Diploma with honors.  He has maintained exceptional school attendance throughout his high school career. Anthony is a recipient of the 2015 Mustang Scholarship Award.  He has been on the football, wrestling and lacrosse teams, and has received numerous awards, honors and recognition for his dedication to each sport.  He is also an active member of the Captain’s Council.  Anthony has his own landscaping/snow removal business that he started when he was 15.  He also works part-time at Mangino Chevrolet.

BrandAustin Brand is the son of Harry and Lauren Brand.  He will attend Clarkson University to study electrical engineering.  Austin is vice president of the senior class and an active member of the Class of 2015 and the William A. Wright National Honor Society. He was a three year captain and student treasurer of the wrestling team, and was twice named “Most Outstanding Wrestler.” Austin also earned the Most Dedicated and Coach’s Award for lacrosse and served as captain of the team for two years, as well as student treasurer during his senior year.  During his senior year of football he was selected as team captain and student treasurer of the football booster club.  He has been named Athlete of the Week for wrestling and lacrosse.  Austin has also performed various acts of volunteer service throughout the community and his church.

The following students have maintained a ninety plus average all four years of high school:  Megan Anagnostopulos, Michael Bevington, Hayley Bruse, Jonathan Heroth, Tyler Johnson, and Madison Smrtic.
