Spectator guidelines for winter athletics at GJSD
The winter athletic season at Johnstown has officially begun!
We are thrilled that spectators will be able to attend home sporting events to cheer on our Lady and Sir Bills this year, but there are some health and safety guidelines that everyone in attendance must follow.
For cheerleading, boys and girls basketball games and wrestling matches being held in the main gymnasium at the Jr./Sr. High School, and bowling matches held at Starlite Alley in Gloversville, there are no limitations on the number of spectators, but all spectators, players, coaches and officials must wear a face mask at all times when in the building (regardless of vaccination status).
Home swim meets at the Jr./Sr. HS will be limited to home fans only. Due to space constraints, only two spectators per swimmer will be allowed. All spectators, coaches, officials and swimmers (when not in the pool) must wear a mask at all times when in the building (regardless of vaccination status).
Before attending away matches as a spectator, it is recommended that you visit the website of the away school in advance, for a clear understanding of that school district’s healthy and safety policy. It is expected that everyone will follow and respect the school district’s policies.
As a reminder, you can access the GJSD athletic schedule on the district website, which can be found on the right hand side of the “Athletics” page under “Game Schedules.”
The district will live stream all home JV and varsity basketball games and wrestling matches held in the main gymnasium at the Jr./Sr. HS on the district’s You Tube Channel (listed as “Johnstown Live Events & Videos”).
