Public Budget Hearing May 4; Budget Document Available Online
The Greater Johnstown School District will hold a public hearing on the $39,967,989 proposed budget for the 2021-22 school year at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 4. The budget hearing will take place in the Johnstown Jr-Sr High Performing Arts Center and community members may attend in person. Masks must be worn and social distancing guidelines must be observed. The hearing will be recorded and posted to the district website for viewing.
The proposed budget represents a 2.5% spending increase ($992,700) and a tax levy increase of 3.8% ($393,427), which is within the district’s allowable New York State tax levy cap increase. This will be the first time since 2017 that the tax levy increase will be within the cap, meaning only a simple majority (more than 50%) will be required to pass the budget. The estimated annual increase on a $100,000 home would be $63.00 (equivalent to a weekly increase of $1.21).
A PDF copy of the proposed 2021-2022 Budget Document, with required attachments, is available to view or print.
