Over 70 Pleasant Avenue students and their families came out last night to enjoy an evening of STEM learning and fun. We hope to build an excitement for the areas of STEM in our young learners that they can take with them as they continue their education in Johnstown, and onto college and careers in STEM fields.
Every student was able to participate in three hands on sessions related to one of the STEM areas. Offerings included science topics in chemistry such as making ice cream, slime and silly putty; electricity; Scratch programming and robotics in the area of technology; engineering topics – including catapult and boat building; and math activities such as tesselations and finance.
We would like to thank our volunteer presenters that included teachers, JHS students, PTECH students, MiSci and First Choice Financial FCU. Without them the evening would not have been possible.
