Principal’s Corner

Dear Families,

We were excited to see so many of you at Parent-Teacher conferences.  We have a busy month planned for December at Pleasant Ave.

Looking at our calendar for the month – picture retakes are on Tuesday, December 4th and early dismissal is on Wednesday, December 5th. On Friday, December 7th the sixth graders will be coming to Pleasant Ave to help our students write letters to Santa.  Join us on Thursday, December 13th 5:30-7:00 pm for our Cookies and Cocoa Literacy Night. Santa will read a story, students will also be able to enjoy a snack and take AR tests. There is no cost and siblings are welcome to attend.  We have several other holiday events planned for the students at school throughout the month of December.

Information about our STEM night and Enrichment opportunities will be coming home soon.

I hope that you enjoy the holiday season.  I am very grateful to work at Pleasant Avenue with our amazing teachers, staff, students and families.  Have a happy and healthy 2019!

  • Students go out daily for recess as long as the temperature is above 20 degrees (taking into account wind chill). Please be sure they have proper outdoor gear. This includes snow pants, boots, mittens/gloves, hats, and of course winter coat. Please label all of the clothing you send to school with your children.
  • School starts promptly at 9:00 am—Please make sure students arrive on time. The side door is open until 8:55 am daily. After that time, you will need to walk your child to the front door and sign them in.
  • If your child is in need of a coat, hat, mittens, or any clothing, please  do not hesitate to let the secretary know!
  • Thank you for all the clothing donations—at this time our closet is full!!

School Closings and Delays

There’s no doubt about it, inclement weather is here. Please listen to your radio or TV regarding school closings and delays. When school is closed for the day, night time events will ordinarily be cancelled. Regarding school delays, the following information is important:

  • Two  hour delays—School starts at 11 am and there will be no breakfast program for the day. We are encouraging students not to arrive before 10:30 am.
