Pleasant Avenue Increasing In Person Instruction
February 25, 2021
Dear GJSD Pleasant Avenue Elementary School Families,
Principal Cory Cotter and I are pleased to announce that our entire team has been working over the past several weeks to design a plan to bring the current hybrid in-person students back to school four days a week, with one day for remote instruction. This plan will begin for Pleasant Avenue students on Monday, March 15, 2021.
This is a significant change from the present two days a week in-person and three days a week remote. We based this important change on our recent review of reading and math data, developments and decisions made by the Governor and the local Department of Health, and re-imagining how we can better utilize the limited space available to us and still observe the six-foot-distancing guidelines.
The safety of our students and staff will come first, and safely increasing the frequency of in-person instruction is bound to improve student learning and achievement over the next four months.
It is important that our families have an opportunity to learn about the plan and ask questions pertinent to the changes. The District has arranged a Family Forum on Monday, March 1, 2021, at 6:00 p.m., via Zoom video-conference at: https://zoom.us/j/95403794510?pwd=Qi93VDY2L3FmNTl1dFdKOXpjM1VUUT09. The passcode is PA2021.
We hope you will attend this information session, ask questions, learn more about increasing live in-person instruction, and support the District’s efforts to make improvements that will help better support instruction and learning. Mrs. Cotter and I are excited to implement the plan moving forward, and to include you in the process. As always, we appreciate your patience, understanding, and excellent participation in your child’s education at an unprecedented time in history.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Corinne Cotter, Principal
