You’ve Got Mail

two students delivering mailThe Pleasant Avenue Postal Service (“PAPS”) is up and running for its second year!

After submitting applications for PAPS positions, “employees” received notification in December that they were “hired.” First grade post masters take charge of date stamping and sorting student mail, while first grade postal workers deliver letters to  classrooms.

Students are now busy writing and addressing letters to each other school-wide, and the children are enjoying reading letters from their peers.

Kids have sent holiday cards to each other, invited their friends to play at recess, sent infinite compliments to each other, and sometimes just shared pictures they’ve drawn.  It enables students to have contact with each other across grade levels, and it’s a great way to teach writing and literacy through a purposeful, meaningful, fun, activity!
