Letter to JHS Families

Dear JHS families,

I hope you are doing well.  As you are aware, Governor Cuomo extended school closures through April 14th.  In the Greater Johnstown School District, we are focused on providing a high quality education and will begin Phase II of our learning plan.  Phase II will be a continuation of education through online learning and Google Classroom.  Teachers have established Google Classrooms for their courses and will provide their assignments online.  For information on how to access Google Classroom, visit the school website at www.johnstownschools.org. Please know that the entire school community is available for assistance throughout this process.

Beginning April 1st, coursework will be used for report card grades. Assignments will be posted in the Google Classroom and can be accessed on the district website through classlink.  Teachers will be posting their due dates for assignments and it must be completed in order to receive credit.  Students should be logging into Google Classroom daily for online instruction. While teachers can be reached throughout the school day, to eliminate conflict for subject specific assistance, teachers office hours have been established  and posted on the district website.

There will be a hold on 3rd quarter report cards and grades until we receive further notice from the New York State Education Department.

It is going to take a community to get us through this, and I have the utmost faith in the Johnstown community. The faculty and I miss the students immensely and can’t wait to see them again.  If you have any questions or concerns, please email me at shale@johnstownschools.org.  Please stay safe and healthy.  I hope to see everyone soon!

Sincerely,

Mr. Scott M. Hale
Principal
Johnstown High School
