High School Guidance Counseling Center

The mission of the Johnstown High School Counseling Department is to foster and enhance each student’s personal/social, career, and academic development. In collaboration with staff, parents, and outside agencies the counselors will strive to meet each student’s needs. Counselors will assist students in obtaining their goals and aspirations to be lifelong learners. 

JHS Graduation Requirements

  • Four credits English
  • Four credits of Social Studies
  • Three credits of Math
  • Three credits of Science
  • One credit of Fine Arts
  • One credit of Language other than English
  • One-half credit of Health
  • Two credits of Physical Education (.5 credit per year)
  • Three and one-half additional credits in electives

Total = 22 credits

Diploma Options:

Regents Diploma

Students must score at least 65 on all 5 required Regents exams in order to earn a Regents Diploma

  • Math
  • Global History
  • U.S. History and Government
  • English
  • Science

Regents Diploma with Honors

  • Students must score a combined average of 90% or above on the five exams set forth above under Regents Diploma

Regents Diploma Advanced Designation

Students must score at least 65 on all of the following exams:

  • Integrated Algebra or Common Core Algebra
  • Geometry
  • Trigonometry
  • Global History
  • U.S. History and Government
  • English
  • Science
  • A second Science Regents exams
  • A Language other than English (must earn three credits in LOTE)

Regents Diploma Advanced Designation with Honors

  • Students must score a combined average of 90% or above on the eight exams set forth above under Regents Diploma Advanced Designation
