The winner of the 2015 Fulton County Spelling Bee will have an opportunity to travel to Washington, D.C. in May to compete in the 88th Annual Scripps National Spelling Bee. Last year’s Fulton County winner was Johnstown’s Katie Ammann, who proceeded to work her way up to round three of the five rounds at the national level.
According to the Scripps National Spelling Bee website, the national competition will host approximately 300 participants from eight countries: the Bahamas, Canada, China, Ghana, Jamaica, Japan, South Korea and the United States, with competitors from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Department of Defense Schools in Europe.
*If a grade-level winner is unable to attend the county competition, the runner-up will attend instead.
