Erica Wagner, the daughter of John and Caroline Wagner, is the Johnstown High School Class of 2016 Valedictorian. She is the President of the International Club and Book Club, Vice President of Key Club, Treasurer of the William A. Wright Chapter of the National Honor Society, and Public Relations Officer of Student Council. Erica participated in the Girls Varsity Swim Team for five years and was selected Captain for the last three. She is an active volunteer at the Johnstown Public Library and she is the Founder of the Johnstown Chapter of the Right-to-Write organization. Erica will attend Northeastern University in the fall to major in Bioengineering.
Adam Robert Ferrari, the son of Robert and Cynthia Ferrari, is the Johnstown High School Class of 2016 Salutatorian. He is an active contributor to both the Johnstown High School Student Council and International Club. He is an avid singer, and he is a powerful performer in the Chamber Choir and Acapella group. He qualified for Area All-State twice for vocals through the NYSSMA Solo Festival. Adam also participated in a musical and play in the Drama club, the latter having the lead role. Adam was also the leading scorer in his Varsity MasterMinds Team, second in his conference. He will attend Clarkson University in the fall majoring in Chemical Engineering.
Mia Sara Franko is the daughter of Michael and Rita Franko. She will attend LeMoyne College. Mia has been involved in the National Honor Society, MasterMinds Team as Captain, International Club, Student Council as co-president her senior year and vice president her sophomore and junior years. She is a member of the Varsity Volleyball Team, where she was a captain and was named 2nd Team All-Star for the Foothills Council, and also earned the Coach’s Award her senior year and the Most Improved Award her junior year. She has been an active member in band and chorus and was a NYSSMA soloist for Band her freshman, sophomore and junior years and for chorus her junior year. Outside of school she has danced at Creative Dance Studio for twelve years and has been an active member of Holy Trinity Parish. She has also volunteered throughout her high school career for various organizations.
Victoria Marie Baker is the daughter of Charles and Maritza Baker. She is the captain of the Johnstown Girls Varsity Tennis Team, a Foothills Council All-Star Champion, and a coach for the Breakaway Youth Basketball League. Throughout her high school career, she co-directed Elements of Joy, a children’s performance group which conducts programs at Nathan Littauer Nursing Home and Perth Bible Church. Victoria received The President’s Volunteer Service Award her senior year and is an avid member of the William A. Wright Chapter of the National Honor Society. She also works with youths every summer at Sacandaga Bible Conference. Victoria will be attending Cedarville University next fall and will major in Nursing.
Jonathan M. Bearden is the son of Millie Metka and Donald Bearden. He will attend the University of Rochester, to study Microbiology on a Pre-Med track. Jonathan has been involved as a member of the varsity soccer team, alpine ski team where he received the Coach’s Award, and in track where he has received the Foothills All-Star award in the 400M hurdles. Jon has served as president of the Student Council and has been a member of the National Honor Society and International Club, served as Vice President of the class of 2016, has served as the Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership Area IV President, is a member of the Fulton County Youth Bureau, and is first chair alto saxophone in Jazz Band. For his commitment to community service, Jon has received the President’s Volunteer Service Award.
Ciara Lorraine Solby is the daughter of Stacey Jacques and Rich Solby. She will attend Ithaca College School of Music to study Clarinet Performance. Ciara has been involved in Varsity Soccer, Jazz Band, Marching Band, Public Relations for the National Honor Society and is President and co-founder of Music for the Mind. She has been a member of Boice’s Woodwind studio for three years, and is a member of Mohawk Valley Chamber Ensembles and Wind Ensemble. Ciara has been selected for the New York State Band Director’s Association State-Wide Honor Band both her junior and senior year. Before leaving for Ithaca this summer Ciara will attend New York State Summer School of the Arts and works closely with the Philadelphia Orchestra at SPAC for much of the summer.
John E. Fitzgerald is the son of Susanne and Michael Fitzgerald. He will attend Hartwick College to study Biology. John has been involved in football, basketball and baseball throughout his four years of high school. In football he has been a First Team Section 2 Class B All-Star twice, MVP of the team, a member of the Senior All-Star game, an overall winner of an award from the National Football Committee Hall of Fame and a Time Warner Cable Athlete of the Week. He has been active in Student Council, National Honor Society and volunteer work through his church. He would love to thank his parents, sister and friends for their endless support.
Logan Brandt is the son of John and Theresa Brandt. He will attend Siena College to study Computer Science. Logan has been involved in bowling, soccer, golf and tennis. He won the Sportsmanship Award for Foothills Council three straight years on the Bowling Team. Logan was a member of the Masterminds team and was awarded Student of the Quarter in Math and Health. As a junior he was inducted into the National Honor Society, and as a senior served as its Vice President. Logan was also involved in various class activities and fundraisers. He does all this while holding down a part-time job at L&L Embroidery.
Reily Jordan Kotwasinski is the daughter of Heather Stobo. She will attend the University of Alabama to study Biology on a Pre-Med track. Reily has been involved in the New Visions program at Nathan Littauer Hospital. She has been a member of the Varsity Soccer Team, Alpine Ski Team, Track and Field Team and Girls Lacrosse Team, where she earned numerous Scholar Athlete Awards. She is a member of the Student Council and International Club and Key Club. She has been on the high honor roll all four years of her high school career.
Joseph Charles Salatel is the son of Paula and Jeffrey Salatel. He will attend Springfield College to study Exercise Science/Athletic Training. Joseph was a member of the Varsity Football Team where he received the Coach’s Award. He was Captain of the Varsity Wrestling Team where he received the Most Dedicated Award. He was also a member of the Varsity Baseball Team. He was editor of the yearbook, and a member of Student Council and the William A. Wright Chapter of the National Honor Society. He was awarded Business Student of the Quarter, Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership Award, English Geometry and Good Character Award, the St. Michael’s Book Award for Scholarship and Service, Distinguished Scholar Athlete Award from the U.S. Army Reserves and Science Student of the Quarter. He has performed various acts of service for the community through volunteer work for the high school, travel baseball teams, Holy Trinity Church and Johnstown Area Community Center.
