A Holiday Feast for Nature Trail Inhabitants

First graders in Mrs. Lisicki’s class found new use for old pumpkins, by transforming them into bird feeders.  On the Tuesday prior to the Thanksgiving recess, students provided a holiday feast to the Nature Trail inhabitants.  Birds, squirrels, and chipmunks were offered pumpkins filled with birdseed and pumpkin seeds.  In addition to feeding the animals, while on the trail, students enjoyed finding animal tracks in the snow and listening to the gentle sound of the stream flowing under the bridge.
