Third Grade Community Service Project is “Paws-itively” Successful

Mrs. Preston’s third graders kicked off the season of giving a little early this year!

Their community service project began with the students doing research about the needs of the Regional Animal Shelter by visiting with guest speaker and shelter volunteer, Mrs. Haverly. Students then made posters and flyers to educate the rest of the school community about how they could help with the collection effort. Finally, students set up collection bins in the school and graphed donations through the month of November.

The project was a great success – students collected 79 items of pet food, treats, leashes, toys, and cleaning supplies. This great group of students learned a lot about being responsible citizens during this important project.
