Principal’s Message

Dear Families,

It is hard to believe it is May already. During the last two months of school, valuable instruction is planned- with a bunch of fun on the side. There are so many important dates to share with you.

We have some exciting events planned this month to showcase our students’ hard work and talents! Join us on Tuesday, May 7th at 6:30 p.m. at JHS PAC for the Second and Third Grade Chorus Concert and the Third Grade Recorder Consort. Join us on May 15th for our Artsy AR Night. More information will be coming home soon! We are looking forward to both of these great events! You are welcome to join us for our May Morning Program on the 20th at 9:20. The Glebe Leadership Team will meet on the 30th at 3:45 p.m. The team will begin brainstorming and planning for 2019-2020. The May JEPTA meeting will be held on May 1st at 6 p.m. at Warren Street School. Third grade students will take the NYS Math exam on May 6th and 7th. We will also be holding our spring book fair on May 8th and 9th. Be sure to take advantage of the buy one get one free deal at this book fair. All classes will have an opportunity to visit the book fair on the 8th or 9th.

Lastly, just a few safety reminders for everyone. Please remember, the bus loop is closed to cars for pick up during dismissal unless you need the handicap parking space. Please park on the road or in the side lot when picking up students at dismissal time. Also, if you need to pick your child up early from school for an appointment, please send in a note or call the office by 1 p.m. Please do not call to ask us to make dismissal changes after 1 p.m. We need to ensure every child’s safety at dismissal time. Also, please remember while school is in session, the playground is closed to the community. The playground is open each day after all of our students have been safely dismissed. Also, dogs are not allowed on school property. Thank you for your help in keeping all of our students safe.

Students will have a unique opportunity to participate in Career Day on May 31st. Thank you to our volunteers who are helping to make this a great event. We hope to see you soon at Glebe!

Sincerely,

Abbey North
Principal, Glebe Street Elementary School
