Elementary Foul Shooting Contest 2019

group shot of winnersJohnstown’s annual Elementary Foul-Shooting Contest took place on Saturday, March 23, in the Warren Street Elementary School gym.

As part of our physical education classes at Warren and Glebe, students participate in a basketball unit that focuses on the fundamentals, along with participating in a foul-shooting contest with their classmates. The first and second place finishers from each class contest are then invited to compete in the district-wide contest.

We had 65 total students competing in our district-wide contest this year, with the winners making anywhere between four and eight out of 10 foul shots. We look forward to seeing them as future Sir Bills and Lady Bills basketball players!

This year’s winners are:

  • Third Grade: Carson Sanjurjo and Elena Dickinson
  • Fourth Grade: Anthony Cristiano and Peyton Nigro
  • Fifth Grade: Braeden Fennessey and Annika Frasier
  • Sixth Grade: Tyler Walrath and Gianna Pica

Thank you to Mrs. Tarbox for her help during this years contest. Thank you also to the following JHS basketball players and student-athletes: Jaden Wilson, Meghan Mraz, Abby VanValkenburgh, Anna Lee, Sadie Blowers, Matt Boyle, Chano Cross, Victor Orsell, Trey Stover and Steven VanNostrand.
