Celebrating Read Across America Day

Pleasant Avenue students were treated to a special Literacy Through Music presentation and a variety of guest readers to celebrate Read Across America Day and Dr. Seuss’ birthday on March 3.

Mr. David Ruch, a musician and educational historian from the Buffalo region, came to Pleasant to provide a day of learning for students. There was a whole-school assembly in the morning, followed by afternoon workshops for two classrooms at a time for songwriting activities. He focused on the communities around us and helped the students to compose their own songs.

In addition, a variety of guests, including current and former Board of Education members, current and former administrators, retired teachers, beloved grandparents and special community members stopped by to spend time reading treasured stories with the children. We thank them for coming to visit and share their love of reading with us!
