The Board of Education has come to a decision regarding the selection of the next superintendent of the Greater Johnstown School District. We are pleased to announce that Dr. William Crankshaw will be taking over as the Superintendent of Schools on or before December 1, 2020.
Dr. Crankshaw is a former educator in the Greater Johnstown School District’s Music Department and also served as the Principal of the Glebe St. Elementary School for several years. He will be bringing with him years of knowledge and experience of our district, as well as nearly eight years as a school superintendent. We feel that his knowledge of our district and experience as a superintendent, will make him an effective leader in this district for years to come.
Dr. Crankshaw’s vision and dedication to students is truly remarkable. He understands the expectations and importance of making sure that all of our students and staff have all the tools they need to succeed. While his professional accomplishments are important, we feel that his personality and his leadership skills are exactly what our district needs now more than ever.
As a board, we are excited and eager to begin working with Dr. Crankshaw and the entire district staff. We feel that he will provide a sense of stability and normalcy to our district in these most uncertain of times.
On behalf of the Board of Education, I would like to thank all of you for your patience and understanding during this long and difficult process. The insight and recommendations that members of our district provided to the board were invaluable in selecting Dr. Crankshaw to be our next superintendent.
Finally, as we enter what is sure to be the most unusual start to the school year in our history, we hope this announcement helps us all get a bit closer to the new normal. Best wishes for a new era and a bright future for all in the Greater Johnstown School District.
