Before and after school programs to be offered in September for UPK-grade 6 GJSD students

The Greater Johnstown School District is excited to announce a partnership with Healthy Kids to provide before and after school programs beginning this September. Families with students enrolled at GJSD will be able to utilize the program for their children in pre-K through sixth grade, for a minimal charge.

Families can register their children for before and after school programs directly on the Healthy Kids website. Information can also be found here about pricing for the program (click “Tuition Rates” and then go to Fulton County).

Before school programs will run from 7 – 8:30 a.m. and includes breakfast beginning at 8:30 a.m. After school programs will run from 3:30 – 6:00 p.m. and will include a snack. Students can do schoolwork, receive academic support, and socialize with other students in a supervised setting.

Before and after school programs will take place in the building where your child attends school:

  • The Knox Building (UPK students)
  • Pleasant Ave Elementary (K – 2nd grade students)
  • Warren Street Elementary (3rd – 6th grade students)

Families are eligible for childcare assistance through DSS if they meet the state’s income guidelines and need child care to work, look for work, or attend employment training.

The district may have scholarships available on a rolling application basis. Further information on scholarships will be provided to families who have registered with Healthy Kids by August 1, 2022.

Virtual Open House informational meetings are scheduled for the following dates and times.

  • June 20 @ 7:00 p.m.
  • July 19 @ 7:00 p.m.
  • August 9 @ 7:00 p.m.

To attend, you must register for one of these events at the following link: https://www.healthykidsprograms.com/virtual-info-session

To determine our districts’ level of  interest in participating in either the before school, after school or both programs, a brief survey was sent to GJSD families through ParentSquare. You can likely find answers to a lot of commonly asked questions on the Healthy Kids website. Contact GJSD’s Director of Curriculum & Instruction Nicole Panton if you need additional information:  (518) 762-4611.
