JHS Lip Sync Battle March 22

Class of 2021 Presents
JHS Lip Sync Battle
March 22, 2019, 7 p.m.

  1. Registration is open to the first 10 teams that complete the registration form (you must be logged into your GJSD email account to access the form). Forms can be turned in to Ms. Fiorenza by emailing or by turning in to the main office at JHS. Completed forms must be submitted by March 15th.
  2. Teams can range in size from 1 to 8 people. Eligible team members include GJSD students, faculty, staff, and administration. All team member names must be included on the registration form. Only individuals listed on the registration form can perform.
  3. Individuals can only compete in one act.
  4. Teams are encouraged to use props; these props must be included on the registration form to be approved by the Lip Sync committee. Props not included on the registration form cannot be used in the performance. Fog machines, bubble machines, fire, water, glitter and confetti are prohibited. Microphones will be provided.
  5. Songs must be clean and include no vulgar language.
  6. Appropriate attire must be worn during the entire performance.
  7. Performances will be judged on the following categories:
    • Lip Sync Abilities: How well the performer(s) lip-sync the lyrics of the song.
    • Creativity: How original and creative the performance is. Instead of just standing on stage and lip-syncing a song – props, choreography, costumes and/or other ideas should be used and often impresses the judges and generates crowd response.
    • Stage Presence & Choreography: Again, don’t just stand there! Engage the audience, dance, smile, make eye contact with the judges…you’re a STAR…have fun!!!

All decisions by the judges will be final.

Principal’s Corner

Dear Families,

Happy March! We have a busy March planned at Glebe! We will have an amazing time celebrating Read Across America Day on March 1st. Students will celebrate literacy with an assembly, guest readers, stations, snack, and special Seuss prizes. Students are encouraged to dress “Seuss” and wear sneakers for stations on March 1st. Our assembly will be at 9:10 a.m. As always, families are welcome to attend. At our assembly, not only will we celebrate Seuss, but we will kick off PARP, or Pick a Reading Partner. PARP will run March 4th through 22nd. Students will receive a PARP board to track their completion of reading activities this month. They can earn prizes/incentives based on how many activities they complete. You will be receiving a PARP packet soon! Students will participate in some activities at school; listen to a guest reader, buddy read, and DEAR (Drop Everything and Read). There are some activities for home and some evening events as well. Join us for Story and a Slice on March 11th (sign up is required!), or AR Night on March 21st. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in the book swap on March 14th (paperwork coming). PARP boards are due on 3/22.  We are looking forward to a fun month celebrating reading!

Other events and meetings happening this month include the Public Budget Forum on March 4th at 6:45 p.m. at the high school. It is important you stay informed regarding the district’s budget. On March 6th at 3:30 the Glebe Leadership Team will meet followed by the Johnstown Elementary PTA meeting at 6 p.m.  On March 7th, there is a Board of Education meeting at 6:30 p.m. We hope to see you at our Morning Program on March 12th at 9:20. On March 13th there is no school, as it is a Conference Day. We hope you have a happy and healthy spring! We hope to see you soon at Glebe!

Between March 4th and 12th students are invited to bring in one or two books to “swap” during our book swap at lunch on March 14th. Students will be allowed to select a book of their choice from the swap selections. Please remember, these are not new books. Please fill out this permission form listing the books you would like your child to “swap” so we know it is ok that your child will NOT get their own book back in return. Thank you for your help! For participating students, we will sign all PARP sheets at the swap!
