Warren Street Principal’s Corner

Dear Warren Street Families,

Please join me in welcoming our new school secretary Ms. Bump. We are all very excited for her to be joining the Warren Street family!

As we are entering our third month of this school year, I am happy to report that every day I see students going above and beyond in their acts of kindness.

Are you familiar with our OLWEUS Bullying Prevention Program? The goals of this program are to reduce bullying problems and to prevent new bullying problems for happening. The program also works to make relationships better among students.

Students and staff at school hold weekly meetings about these topics and learn our four anti-bullying rules. Another very important component we teach is the difference between bullying and “mean” behavior and how to handle both.

Parents and guardians play a key role in this program. Your child is asked to tell an adult at school and an adult at home if he or she is bullied  or sees bullying happening at school. It is very important to let our school staff know if you have concerns. Our school staff members are trained to deal with bullying situations when we are told about them.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns regarding your child(ren), please do not hesitate to contact me.

Mrs. Nikki Lent, Principal

All About the Bees

All About the Bees

Glebe Street students were treated to an “All About the Bees” presentation by The Museum on Blue Mountain Lake’s Adirondack Experience.

Per the Adirondack Experience website, this outreach program introduces students to life inside the beehive with a look at the honeybee lifecycle and the social structure of a bee colony, and includes a discussion of beekeeping past and present. Students then put their understanding of pollination to the test with a high energy relay race competition that challenges each “beehive” team to be the best group of pollinators they can be.

Thank you Adirondack Experience for an awesome “All About the Bees” presentation!

It is important to have open communication to ensure your child’s educational success. We appreciate the time you take to meet with us.

On November 8th we will honor our veterans at our Veteran’s Day Breakfast at 8:00 am until 8:45 am.  Please return the form that went home last week if you are interested in attending. Students who are attending the breakfast with their family members should arrive to school with their veteran.

Students will be dismissed at 11:45 am on November 14th and 15th. Also, on November 20th, we will be dismissing at 2:50 pm for our Emergency Go Home Early Drill.  Please make an effort to pick your child up on time as all school personnel are also directed to leave for the drill.
