Welcome Back to the 2018-19 School Year
Dear Johnstown High School Families,
Welcome back to the 2018-19 school year. I hope that you have had an enjoyable summer! Administration, teachers, and staff have worked very hard to prepare for the 2018-2019 school year and are very excited to open the doors on Wednesday, September 5th. The majority of construction is done and I am excited for you to see our fantastic, new building.
The school day starts at 7:45AM, but the doors will be open for students at 7:00AM. The last assigned class of the day ends at 2:30PM, but 2:30PM to 2:50PM is time used for academic enhancement. This time can be very essential for student success.
Understanding school expectations and policies is important for a successful experience at JHS. Important information such as attendance policy and academic eligibility can be found on www.johnstownschools.org under the Johnstown High School tab in the JHS student handbook. Other critical information can be found there as well. Please become familiar with the district website.
Just a reminder that the traffic pattern from last year will remain the same. Families who drive their children to school will use the front loop off Pearl Street. Our buses will use the bus loop in the back of the school to drop students off. They will enter through the doors by the auditorium. This provides a much safer environment for all of our students, staff, and community members at arrival and dismissal time!
In closing, I am very excited to get the school year started. I look forward to seeing all of you. Open House will be on October 16th, but if you have any concerns prior to that, feel free to contact me at any time.
