Angela Yetto, Guidance Counselor
Cherie Hockey, Guidance Secretary
(518) 762-3726 ext. 117 or ext.118
Welcome to the Knox Junior High guidance page. It is
important that students remember your guidance counselor
is here to help. Whether you have questions about your
schedule, are having problems with another student, or
just need to talk, feel free to stop by and see Ms.
Yetto.
In
order to help ensure student success, the guidance counselor works closely with the teachers as well as the
principal, other school personnel and community
counseling resources. Communication from parents is welcomed and encouraged. If you have questions
or concerns regarding your child, or to
schedule a parent/teacher conference with your child’s
team teachers, please call the guidance office or e-mail
me at
ayetto@gjsd.k12.ny.us.
Welcoming Committee
The Welcoming Committee will serve for its
third year
at Knox. For those of you who aren’t aware, this
committee was developed in order to assist new students
coming into our district throughout the year. With
recommendations from their teachers, a number of our
seventh and eighth graders will work together to help
ease the transition of new students to the building.
Many times these new students come to Knox not knowing
anyone and the adjustment can be difficult. Our
Welcoming Committee did a wonderful job last year
helping to alleviate some of this stress by giving tours
of the building, helping out with lockers, introducing
the new students to other friends, and sitting with them
at lunch.
We look forward to the continued success of the
Welcoming Committee and thank all our members for their
participation!
Diversity Club (formerly Shared Decision Making
Committee)
One
of the major goals at Knox Junior High School is achieving a school climate in which students feel safe to
learn and grow. Building character is instrumental to
our students’ academic success and bright futures. The
faculty and staff are committed to character
education and violence prevention in our school. To help
realize this goal, the Shared Decision Making
Committee (SDM) meets every month to discuss issues
and devise strategies to address problems such as
bullying in school.
We greatly appreciate parent and student participation
and hope that, with your input, we can make some
positive changes at Knox. Students or parents who are
interested in being a part of the Shared Decision Making
Committee should look for the meeting dates each month
and feel free to attend, or contact the guidance office for more information.
