the World.” Begin your journey at the Glebe Street

While you are reading in the library, check out the
display wall and watch it grow with the names of each
student as they travel the Continents and Oceans.

The
Accelerated Reader Program has three easy steps to help
guide students to appropriate books within their reading
level:
-
The student reads a library book or textbook series
selection that is marked Accelerated Reader (AR) and
labeled with a specific color-coded sticker per
grade level.
-
The student takes the AR quiz on their library book
selection or popular reading textbook series.
-
The students accumulate AR points for various
prizes.
By reading then taking corresponding comprehension tests
in the computer lab, students are able to earn points.
Those points correspond to prizes that align with the
reading theme this year. Reading books in conjunction
with writing book reports is another element that has
been added, which enables children to earn points
through their writing skills as well as reading skills.
An outline of the acceptable guidelines for book reports
will be made available in the front office.
Each
month at Glebe, our top 10 readers are posted. In
addition, this year we will be recognizing all the
children as they achieve the next reading level on a
library wall display.
There
will be a celebration at the end of the school year for
all children who participated in the Accelerated Reader
Program.
