Central Council PTA 2012-13 Meeting Dates
Central Council PTA meetings will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the JHS small cafeteria on the following dates, unless otherwise noted:

• September 24
• October 29 - Rescheduled to Nov. 13
• November 26 - Rescheduled to Nov. 13
• December - No Meeting
• January 28 - Rescheduled to Jan. 22
• February 25
• March 25 - Founders Day Dinner, Winners Circle Restaurant
• April 29 - meeting will be at 7 p.m.
• May 20 - meeting will be at 5:30 p.m.
• June 11 - Installation dinner, hosted by Warren Street at Hale's Mills Country Club. The cost is $22 per person; social hour 5:30 p.m. and buffet dinner at 6:30 p.m.

Founders' Day Nominations Requested
The Central Council PTA of the GJSD honors two individuals each year at the annual Founders’ Day dinner in March.

The City-Wide Award is presented to an individual who has distinguished him/herself in service to the children and youth of the Johnstown Community.

The Mischael Boyer Award is presented to an individual who has specifically helped to raise self-esteem among the youth of the Johnstown Community.

Recipients worthy of these honors need not be a PTA member, have any particular affiliation with the school district, or be well known beyond their own area of service. Nominations for these awards must be submitted, in writing, to the President of the Central Council PTA, at or before the January meeting of the council (January 22, 2013). The nomination should include a detailed description of the services provided and clearly demonstrate how these services have directly benefited the youth in our community. The nomination need not be signed, but a contact person with a phone number should be provided in case more information is required.

In addition, each building honors up to three recipients per year at Founders’ Day. These awards are given for service to the school building community and students, either through volunteering, serving on committees, as a staff member, or a combination of the above.

If you would like to nominate someone for one of these awards, please send your child to school with a note addressed to “Founders’ Day Chairperson” by January 22, 2013.
