Girls Earn Sectional Titles in Three Fall Sports
The Johnstown Lady Bills field hockey team defeated the
top-seeded Glens Falls Indians in a championship game at
Schuylerville on Sunday, November 6, 2011, to bring home the
2011 Section II Class B title. The Lady Bills field
hockey program has won 14 Sectional titles since 1983 (12 in
Class B and 2 in Class A). The team has been a Section II
Class B finalist for the past three years, winning its last
title in 2003. They will move on to play Maine-Endwell in the
State Class B Regionals at 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 12, at
Green High School.
The Johnstown Lady Bills volleyball team defeated Ichabod
Crane at Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School on Saturday,
November 5, 2011, earning the 2011 Section II Class B title.
The Johnstown volleyball team was a Section II Class B
finalist in 2010, and the program previously earned a
sectional title in 2005. They will now play Massena from
Section X at 2 p.m. on Thursday, November 10, at Gloversville
High School.
Johnstown senior Meghan Bartlett, a member of the
Fonda-Johnstown swim team, won a Section II Division II
individual championship on Saturday, November 5, 2011, during
the girls swimming and diving championships at Shenendehowa
High School. This is is her third straight year winning the
1-meter diving championship. She will be competing in the NYS
Public High School Athletic Association championship meet at
Erie Community College on Saturday, November 19.
