On Saturday, October 15, 2011, the first ever Family Fun Fall Festival was held at Johnstown's former Jansen Avenue School site. A collaborative effort by all three of Johnstown's elementary PTA's, this four-hour community event was open to students and their families at no charge. Highlights included games, crafts, relays, snacks, and musical entertainment. High school students from Mr. Russo's  Participation in Government class, together with Knox students from Mrs. Bruno's social studies classes, offered a helping hand with many of the various events and booths. This enabled parents who would normally be working hard behind the scenes to step out in the sun and enjoy a wonderful afternoon with their children. Even the weather cooperated to make the day a great success - with a deluge of rain holding off until the event was over!
