Pleasant Avenue had a beautiful day for their traditional Halloween Parade on October 30. Students enjoyed showing off their fun costumes followed by classroom celebrations. The faculty and staff even got in the spirit and dressed as pirates this year.

Mystery Door Night at Glebe

Glebe’s Mystery Door Night was a huge success, with more than 185 children joining in on the fun!

Many students came in costume to enjoy the evening – a few can be seen in the pictures below. They had fun guessing the names of the mystery door titles and turning in their game cards for a treat. Also pictured below are 10 of the mystery doors decorated to represent favorite book titles. How many do you recognize? If you need a hint, all 15 mystery door book titles can be found at the bottom of this page!

Strive for Five Leadership Video

Students at Warren Street School are encouraged to  “Strive for Five” qualities that are important both in and out of the classroom: self-control, leadership, cooperation, respect and responsibility.

Awesome Time for All at Fall Festival

Families from all three Johnstown elementary schools had an awesome time at the annual JEPTA Fall Festival held at Warren Street on Friday evening, October 23.

Students had fun showing off their dance moves; voting for pumpkins cleverly decorated by each classroom and getting to visit with special guest DJ’s – our former principals Mr. Z and Mr. V!

Literacy Night a Hit at Pleasant Avenue

Pleasant Avenue’s Literacy Night on October 22 was a great opportunity to browse the Book fair in the school library, enjoy family reading time in the gym, complete an AR test in the computer lab, and socialize over ice cream in the cafeteria. The evening was well attended, with a fantastic turnout of families!

Fourth Graders Create Porcine Pumpkins

Elementary classes have been decorating pumpkins for the Johnstown Elementary PTA Fall Festival scheduled for 6 – 7:30 p.m. on Friday, October 23, at Warren Street School. The event will feature a DJ, crafts and face painting.

Star Wars Pumpkins Coming to a Galaxy Near You

Elementary classes have been decorating pumpkins for the Johnstown Elementary PTA Fall Festival scheduled for 6 – 7:30 p.m. on Friday, October 23, at Warren Street School. The event will feature a DJ, crafts and face painting.

Third grade Glebe classes decorated their pumpkins to resemble Star Wars characters to go along with their Accelerated Reader theme of “Jedi Academy” for this year. Come see these and other decorated pumpkins on display at the JEPTA Fall Festival October 23!

Special Education Quality Assurance Review

The New York State Education Department: Office of Special Education has initiated a Special Education Quality Assurance (SEQA) Special Education Programs and Services Focused Review in the Greater Johnstown School District during the 2015-16 school year. The purpose of this review is to assess the district’s compliance with selected federal and state laws and regulations governing the education of students with disabilities.

The review will be conducted by the SEQA Albany Regional Office. The review process will involve a review of school records of a representative sample of students with disabilities, classroom visitations and surveys. In addition, meetings of the committee on special education will be observed. Further information may be obtained by contacting the SEQA Albany Regional Office at 458-6366 and/or by contacting the Greater Johnstown School District at 736-1708.
